Simple Dating Tips-russian Women

If you have decided to chance your luck with Russian women, congratulations, they are worth the extra effort involved. Equally it might be helpful to you to understand a little where these ladies are coming from. They are a little different ( I explain below how and why) and being aware of, or better still understanding these differences can save much misunderstanding. There are many truly gorgeous Russian ladies:- Go get yours.....

Russian and Ukrainian women are different and knowing these differences can significantly increase your chances of success. Why are they different and what are the differences? Because these countries were effectively closed to the rest of the world until relatively recently, these ladies have grown up and developed within systems devoid of foreign influences and this is very noticeable and in many ways attractive.

Here are some of the more notable differences. Dating Russian Women.

1. It is fair to say that in general moral and family values are higher here than in many areas of the world. The development of equality for women in these countries seems to have followed a different route, a different path and so many of these ladies are proudly feminine. They share no inhibitions in dressing, grooming and presenting themselves so as to highlight their feminism, sensuality and beauty.

2. Seeking the best education possible is for many the first priority and it is something taken very seriously. The education systems available are very good by any global standard and equally intelligence levels are way above global averages.

3. Having achieved their University diploma, or often during this period, thoughts of marriage and starting both a home and family begin to arise. They have been brought up to believe in a strong, secure and happy family as the basis of their happiness and for this reason will put unusual efforts into making and sustaining a happy and cosy home and relationship.

4. Once she has settled and established herself in her new life, her new culture and lifestyle, she will quite likely want to contribute in every way to her new life, her new family. No, you will find that many would actually prefer to in some way utilise their intelligence and contribute completely within their family unit.

5. In general these ladies are not wealthy, but equally, they are by nature very generous. The willingness to share that which undoubtably has required much effort and time to aquire is very attractive. No it is fair to say that for most aquiring material possessions is not a major part of their agenda. Again this is in general not true. Although equally they will seek a partner that is financially secure. It is fair to say they list priority of values as:- Kindness, honesty and generosity (of heart), a serious and responsible attitude, a sense of humour and a passion for life.

So how can this information help you in finding your Russian soul mate?

1. Congratulate her on her beauty, but do not dwell excessively upon this aspect solely. They know they are beautiful and in general seek a partner that will love them for what they are and who they are, not simply for their beauty.

2. Engage her intellect, exchange ideas, you will quite possibly be surprised that her viewpoint will be very different, valid and refreshingly interesting. As confidence and trust develops, encourage her to reveal her hopes and dreams, discover her values and what she really believes to be important.

3. The fact that you are in the fortunate position to try for a russian bride does by its nature indicate that you are financially secure. Clearly the expenses involved are incomparable to meeting the "girl next door". Reasure her that yes you are in a position to both help her move to your country and even more important help her establish her new life within your country. Remember she will be considering leaving her home, country and friends. She will need to feel very confident of both your love and your ability to help her start a new life in a new country.

4. Would you be happy for her to either continue her career in her new country, or find a new way of using her intelligence in finding a new occupation? Establish from her how she would like her future life to be and then work together with her in achieving these goals.

5. Be sensitive, if you have a huge house, car, or income let her discover it herself naturally. For the majority of these ladies a kind, open and generous heart is way more important than your material status. Remember that whilst these ladies are not wealthy they are very rich in many deeper and very attractive and admirable qualities.

There are many beautiful and smart Russian and Ukrainian ladies genuinely searching for love and a serious relationship and with care, luck, patience and respect you can find your perfect partner

Russian Women’s Attitudes Toward Marriage

By John Kunkle

The main reason why Russian women want to marry Western men is because they want to have a family and they have not found a suitable mate in their own country.

Russian women are motivated to get and stay married. However, there is a considerable amount of adjustment that must take place to make the marriage work.

You will have to overcome cultural differences, language problems, and other types of misunderstandings. You will need to be patient.

In addition, usually marriages between Russian women and Western men are marriages between two people who hardly know each other.

There is an old saying: Women marry men hoping they will change, while men marry women hoping they won’t. Usually, they are both disappointed.

This is not a situation unique to Russian women – it seems to be universal to all women. There will be friction. Mainly, because your wife will slowly try to change you. And you, of course, will resist changing.

Russian women usually try to take charge of the house and the family. They see this as their responsibility. This is because most Russian women in fact are the head of the household in Russia.

Many Russian men either were not present in the home or they neglected their family responsibilities in favor of the pursuit of pleasure.

You will be shocked when the demure little sex kitten you met in Kiev starts to show her claws after you are married.

You think she has changed and you don’t like it. You may wonder where that cute little girl that you first met has gone to. Well, that cute little girl is now a wife and she takes her responsibilities as a wife seriously.

She begins to do what she has seen all Russian women doing since she was a little girl – taking care of their families the only way they know how – by taking charge.

And changing you to fit into family life is part of the process. You will not be successful by digging in your heels and refusing to change. This is going to be your greatest challenge. Deciding where to change and when to stand your ground.

Russian woman for wife:How to Win a Russian Woman with Words

By Kristy Pass Pass

Someone really ought to write The American Man's Guidebook to Avoid Infuriating a Russian Woman during Correspondence because there are certainly enough American men out there looking for a Russian companion who want to make a good impression, but don't know where to begin. Even fewer know the biggest mistakes to avoid when writing a Russian woman. While I'm not prepared to write a book on the subject, I do have a few tips for men who are looking for a compatible partner in a woman from Russia.

Like women anywhere, Russian women for wife dislike men that are dishonest, mean spirited and have bad tempers as well as those who are unreliable and of course unfaithful. Many Russian women tend to dislike facial hair and are apt to avoid a man who is obese. However, these same women are not disenchanted by a man who is ten to fifteen years older.

Because Russian women are not desperate to leave Russia, writing the wrong things will end in a quick rejection. Before you decide to write a Russian woman, learn about the culture. Begin to study what is considered normal and acceptable behavior and what is not. You'll find some very interesting things like that handwriting a letter is considered cheap or that appearing in photos wearing shorts and no shirt is disrespectful.

Remember there is a strong western influence on today's Russian woman. She sees American television, listens to American music and often eats American foods. While a Russian woman would rarely call herself a feminist, she is independent by fate and takes on many responsibilities as a regular course of life. To assume that she will be docile and obedient is a big mistake. To command her in anything is a major mistake. With Russian women, if you want something, ask and the likelihood is you'll get it.

Another common mistake when writing a Russian woman is to begin the letter with "Dear" and tell her you find her beautiful. The word "dear" in Russian has a very intimate connotation and is better left for when you know the Russian woman better. To tell her she is beautiful is another way of convincing her you want only one thing and are not interested in her as a person. When considering things that will make a Russian woman feel devalued, keep in mind that trying to impress her with the things you have will only serve to make her feel you are trying to make her one of your possessions.

Lastly, if you want to avoid infuriating Russian women during correspondence, make sure you never stop writing without an explanation. If you find she is not the one for you, tell her.

Russian Superstitions

By John Kunkle

Russians are very superstitious people. They will deny this, but it is true. These superstitions affect my life on a daily basis. Most of the time they are harmless and I go along with them to humor my wife. Sometimes I tease her about them.

New superstitions pop up all the time, as new situations arise in our life. I keep telling her that I need a rulebook for them. Perhaps someday I will codify them in a book.

Russians are raised with these superstitions so they have no need to consult a manual.

Here are some of them. It is by no means an exhaustive list:

1) You can’t whistle in the house or car, as they believe that you are whistling away your money.

At a dinner party at our house, a friend of mine started whistling. My wife silenced him immediately. She explained to him, “You can whistle in your own house, but you can’t whistle in mine. In my house, it’s my money you are whistling away.”

When she first came to America, she would see people standing at intersections holding signs. She asked me what they were doing. I told her they were asking for money. She asked me why. I told her that they had done entirely too much whistling in their house for their own good.

2) If you step on your spouse’s shoe by accident, you have to let the other person step on your shoe, or you will have an argument.

I never tested this superstition. It seemed easier to go along with the remedy than pay the price for violating it.

3) If you leave your house, you cannot go back inside for something you have forgotten, or your trip will result in ‘nothing good,’ as my wife says.

4) If you must go back in to get the forgotten item, you can try to mitigate the bad effects of returning by looking into the mirror at your own reflection for a moment before you leave again.

5) Never demonstrate another’s surgery or wound on your own body with your hand or other means as you are likely to visit that upon yourself.

In the few times I have done this, my wife has tried to remedy this by wiping away the spot where I made the imaginary incision with her hand, blowing on her hand to blow it away to the wind, and covering it with the sign of the cross.

6) Never give a Russian woman an even number of flowers. Even numbers are for the dead. Always give odd numbers. When you order a dozen, or two dozen roses, for her, ask them to throw in an extra one for good luck.

7) Never give yellow flowers to a Russian woman. It signifies infidelity and may mean that your relationship will not last.

8) Never give a watch as a gift to a Russian wife marriage. Time is running out on your relationship.

9) Never give knives or handkerchiefs as gifts. I don’t know the reason for this one.

10) Never celebrate a birthday early. You are pushing your luck.

11) Don’t show your newborn baby to strangers until after forty days. They are waiting for their soul to arrive and they may take on another’s soul or energy during that time.

12) It’s best to cut your hair or nails during a full moon.

13) It's considered bad luck to shave or cut your hair when a family member is in danger or bad health.

14) Whenever someone praises you or offers a positive comment, you knock on wood or imaginarily spit three times over your left shoulder so that you are not jinxed by the comment.

15) Do not shake hands or kiss over the threshold of a door. It forms a bridge that allows the devil or evil spirits from the outside to enter the house this way. When I have done this by mistake, my wife usually pushes me back outside or pulls me inside before greeting me with a kiss at the front door.

16) Before anyone takes a long trip, the whole family sits together silently for a few minutes before the traveler leaves.

17) The truly superstitious have been known to eat ‘lucky’ bus tickets, when the sum of the left three numbers equals the sum of the three numbers on the right.

18) Recently, while preparing to give my infant daughter a bath, the little tyke peed on me while I was taking her clothes off. My wife laughed and said that it was good news. It meant that I would live to dance at my daughter’s wedding!

This list is not exhaustive by any means. Superstitions vary by country and locale. There is a popular Russian television show that travels around the country exploring the unique superstitions of each particular town or village.

Many of the superstitions came from folk tales or fairy stories, Russian Orthodox tradition, or had peasant or agricultural roots. Most Russians are only one or two generations from the farm or village.

At any rate, be aware of the superstitions and try to show some respect for them whether or not you believe in them. Your Russian friends will appreciate it.

Our recommendations how to find women for marriage in Russia

Have you come to the site to find a Russian lady? Do Russian girls attract you? I will be happy to help you:

Register to the site ' Find Russian Women for Marriage' and pay special attention to pictures. Many men think that women do not pay attention to pictures - WRONG! They do. When you communicate with the person, then pictures go to the second plan. But in the beginning they do. The worst pictures that can be imagined are made by mobile telephones or by camera. They make face of the person to look in special way and usually it does not help to attract attention.

Russia is the country of traditional view on the roles of men and women. Russian Brides can be active, but they want you to initiate contact. Most of the information is written in your profile. That's why your letter can be rather short. It can be rather traditional: I like you, do you like my profile. Or you can think of something more original. If you want to be slower in your approach send the Russian women on the site postcards or ice-breaks.

In the first letters write when you can come to Russia, be definite. On this site, women are serious looking for a partner for life, and many of them met with the case when men just wrote, wrote, wrote for several years but the time went by. That's why many women reply less gladly when they do not know when a man can come.

Choose the women with whom it is easy for you to communicate, with whom you never miss words. Ask them for a telephone number, phone, talk there will tell you more than tons of letters.

What women hate most is the thought that you phone to tens brides and do not remember even their names. Better talk on different themes in your telephone talks and ask different questions and never forget the name.

When you have established good relationship with a girl, try to come to Russia as soon as possible. The more you delay your visit to your bride the more chance that the relationship will go down (they can't just stand on one point, the relationship need to go up and make better or they need to go down and make worse).

Russian bride fenomenon

Eveything is quite simple: process of emancipation in the west has caused reassessment social and spiritual values, the woman has ceased to be simple saver a home and the housewife, today for her on the first place - career, children and the husband are on the second place. Foreign girl will not worry concerning her appearance, they put on so that, first of all, it was convenient for them. They are self-assured and perceive men as equal in rights partners both in family, and in business.

In turn, Russian girls are much less exacting, and very much frequently a limit of dream for many of them is the teetotal husband and fed children. They have time to work, successfully to conduct facilities and and they always look good. And, at last, the most important and a weighty argument for the benefit of Russian girls - good formation and high intelligence facilitating adaptation in the unfamiliar country and quite often causing pride at foreign men. Such unique combination of qualities appeared to be so appreciable, that has caused huge interest on the part of lonely men of USA and the Western Europe. Such marriages for a long time were considered to be something outstanding and finally the reasons to search the beloved ones were found for russian women.

One of the reasons - a demographic situation in the CIS: the quatity of women is much higher than men. One more reason - Russain girls aspire to provide to themselves and children comfortable conditions of life to get access to "clever" medicine, to live bright and high-grade life, freely to travel and to not reflect on household problems - and in it there is nothing immoral and unnatural. And, at last, worthy men are everywhere - and in the CIS, and abroad. In conditions of the world integration the modern woman can and should choose not to an attribute "ours - not ours", and to much more essential attributes. Usually it is purposefulness and magnanimity, attention, fidelity and diligence, ability and desire the sense of humour and natural charm, the quivering attitude to the woman, children and the house is good to look at any age, to take care of relatives - these qualities Russian women search for ability and find in the foreign elects.

Why Russian Women Seek Foreign Husbands?

I work in affiliat program "Russian bride" only a few months. During this time, the number of girls in the program has increased from 9000 to 13000. An increasing number of Russian women want to marry foreigners.

Why Russian Women Seek Foreign Husbands?

The main reason that Russian women want to marry to the West that they wanted to marry and have a family, and they feel that this is not possible for them in Russia today.

Do unmarried women thirty-five years of age or older virtually no chance to find a husband in Russia. A divorced woman with children in the same boat.

Russian women abroad finding is the result of the lack of suitable men in Russia.

Russian women who are looking for Western marriage, believe that they will have better chances of receiving married and having a family with a foreigner than with the Russian man.

Why are all these beautiful Russian women are

Russian tend to marry young, between eighteen to twenty two years. In this age, the number of single men and women is about even. However, as they grow older, the number of single women is beginning to increase in the number of men.

When they last school age is often very difficult for women in decision marriageable men in Russia. There are a number of reasons.

Russian Women Online: Meet Real-Life Russian Brides!!

You certainly have heard about mail order brides and Russian women seeking foreign men for marriage, but most likely you have not met any real-life russian brides.Let me introduce you to a few of them – a tiny fraction of many thousands Russian women that found their love and marriage with western men.

But first, a reality check:

* What kind of Russian women are seeking partners abroad, do you think?

-- Some desperate, poor girls that try to better their lot in life by “selling themselves”?

** Who are the men that seek Russian brides, do you think?

-- Some old, unattractive losers, who cannot attract any woman at home?

Do those answers make sense to you? Then read on – you are up to a surprise!

Meet real-life Russian brides:

1) Marina Smiley, MD – married to an American she met online.

Medical Doctor by education, Marina used to have her own successful company back in Russia; the author or popular eBooks “The shocking truth about russian brides” (http://www.womenrussia.com/aboutrussianbrides.htm) and “Sex and love with Russian women” (http://www.womenrussia.com/datingrw.htm). Marina hates the hype of Russian marriage agencies and believes it is about time to set up the record straight in regard to Russian women seeking men for marriage.

2) Olga Sapp – M-degree in journalistic, married to an American man for more than 5 years.

Olga is the Editor of the popular Russian Women Magazine http://www.russianwomenmagazine.com - a magazine for russian women living abroad and for interested men. She used to be a successful TV-journalist back in Russia, and knows media industry from A to Z.

3) Elena Hughes – M-degree, married to an American man she met online.

Elena used to have a successful travel agency back at her home country Belarus but decided that having her own family was more important. So she sold her travel agency and set herself to find a husband abroad – started to learn English and communicate with western men via Internet. Meet Elena and her husband Doug at http://www.russian-wife.net

And the last, yours truly:

4) Elena Petrova – M-degree in Philosophy, married to a South African man for more than 5 years, currently living in Australia. We have two children, a boy and a girl.

Back in Russia, I used to be a regional manager of a large marketing agency, having 150 people working for me. My income would fit into top 10% of the population. My website Russian Brides Cyber Guide (http://www.womenrussia.com) is one of the most popular places for information about Russia and Russian women – even school kids writing essays about Russia use it.

So – what do you think about real-life Russian brides? Do they sound like low-class, desperate silly girls “selling themselves”?

No. Neither their husbands are unattractive old losers.

Take my husband for example: he used to be a top-manager of a corporate company, the head of finance department, and a successful athlete as well - running marathons and ultra-marathons, and has got 3 medals for the toughest Comrades Marathon, which is 90 km through the hills (the ones who run marathons will know what it means!). 6’4” tall and trim, you think he could not find anyone at his home country?!

So WHY those men and women set up to look elsewhere for marriage partners?

The answer is simple: CHOICE!

They can find a better quality partner abroad that is available for them at their home countries.

That’s it.

No hidden agenda, “buying women” – “selling themselves”, just the natural human desire.

Forget “mail order brides” nonsense – the fact that people marry somebody from a different country than their own is a natural attribute of the Internet age where national borders started to fade.

We live in the interesting timesArticle Search, pals. Embrace the opportunities!

So what is important for Russian women?

With no doubt these are love and security. Those are the most important two things women write in their profiles. "I want my future husband to love and understand me", - is what almost all of them. After “love and understanding” usually goes “financially security”. But don’t get it wrong. It doesn’t mean you must have a six-figure annual income. It means you just have to have a stable job and be able to provide for the family. Though the better your financial situation, the easier you will find a nice Russian lady.

There were no times in Russia that people didn’t have to suffer with everyday surviving. So, don’t think that Russian women are after your money. They just want to change the situation and make sure it will never happen again. A Russian woman will stay with you through any turn of fortune, but to consider you as a partner for the end of her life, she must be confident you are not an unemployed tramp.

Your impressive financial situation may do its work at first, but then other factors will come into play: you’ll have to develop relationship, based on emotional factors and character compatibility. There are lots of cases when Russian women choose much poorer guys but with better personalities. Commitment is another thing a Russian woman is expecting from you. Since long distance relationships without being able to continue it in real life don’t make much sense, she wants to be assured you are ready to offer it to her. She is not looking for pen friends. Living in hard times, always trying to survive makes people thoughtful and thus more mature for their age than under other more favorable conditions. For the most part it’s relevant to Russian women as to nobody else. From my experience, I can tell that 5-15 years difference is perfectly normal. Many men are surprised at receiving letters from attractive professional women (lawyers, economists, doctors) 10-15 years younger than themselves.

In most western countries this age gap is beyond imagination. But with Russian women it’s ok. Besides, the age difference also adds to their feeling of security. On the other part, you should not set unrealistic expectations. If you’re in your late 50’s, you’d better not expect to find a 20-year old beautiful girl. But try to concentrate your attention on charming ladies in their late 30’s or 40’s, eager to make acquaintance with you. This is be realistic. Of course, there are exceptions from the rules as anywhere else. If you’re very good looking, intelligent, famous or rich, you’ll have all the chances to make it with the age difference of 20 years or more. But, again, it will only be an exception.

If you think of a lifetime relationships, it’s absolutely necessary to take age issue into consideration. Most of the women won’t have problems with age differences up to 10 years, many will find 15 years OK, but only a few will consider age difference up to 20 years. Everything beyond this will very likely make you encounter problems in your search. It’s also need to be said, that requirements of Russian women to foreign men grow higher and higher every year. The more foreign men seek partners in Russia, the better choice women have.

There are some distinctions in perceiving age difference between young girls and older women. For a girl of 20 years old it’s normal to be interested in men up to 45, but a woman of 40 years old will not search for a man above 55. Therefore, if you are 48 you may be considered a suitable candidate for a girl of 27 years old. Health Fitness Articles, but too old for girl of 35 years old. always say.

Etiquette at the Russian Tour Social

By John Kunkle

It is important that you are respectful to the women who are in attendance at the social. Many of them have spent the equivalent of several months’ salary for clothes, transportation, and lodging in order to be there. Some may have traveled hundreds of kilometers and a day or more in travel time to come.

I can assure you that most of the women in attendance are very serious about being at the Social. With a ten to one ratio of women to men, it is obvious that many of these women will be disappointed. Please bear this in mind. The odds are stacked in your favor so that you are guaranteed to win.

You have paid thousands of dollars for that privilege. But bear in mind that the women in attendance have paid just as high a price based on their personal resources as you have. In many ways they have more to gain and lose than you do.

Consequently, you should respect their time and level of commitment to the social introduction process, as their happiness is as important to them as yours is to you. For these reasons, please show them all the courtesy you can.

"Russian Brides: How to Woo, Win, and Wed The Woman of Your Dreams" is a complete comprehensive step by step manual that covers all the pertinent details about finding, meeting, and courting a Russian woman.

The site is organized from the beginning of the book -- why you should pursue a Russian woman, how to find her, how to communicate with her -- through traveling to Russia, meeting her -- and ultimately, to bringing her home and making your relationship work.

The book is designed to be read from beginning to end. Each chapter page has subchapters on the corresponding chapter page which deal with specific subjects.

Just click on the "Next" button on the bottom of each page and it will take you to the next page chronologically in the book.

Once you have read the book through once, you may focus on that part of the book that corresponds to the stage where you are at now.

I wish this guide was available when I was in the process of meeting my Belarussian wife. It would have saved me a lot of time, money, and heartache. You now have my experience and the experience of hundreds of men who have traveled before you at your fingertips.

The Russian Marriage Agency From Hell

By John Kunkle

If she does not speak English, you can usually arrange through the local marriage agency to have a translator on the call. This may cost you ten to twenty dollars per hour, but at least you will be able to converse with each other.

Other resources are local universities that have university students who are studying English. Usually their services can be arranged fairly inexpensively.

I used translation services from the marriage agencies a few times with widely varying results. One of the worst was an agency in Polatsk, Belarus. This was, hands down, the worst marriage agency I ever encountered. It was the agency run by Olga Narkevich.

The young girl who did the translating was an English student. She did her best, but she could barely speak English. She could only remember about five to ten words at a time before she had to do a data dump and translate.

Sometimes this was in the middle of a sentence and it was difficult, if not impossible, to get anything but the simplest concepts translated.

The basic message got through, but a conversation that should have taken fifteen minutes took over two hours. On top of that, the phone connection was so bad, we were both screaming at each other on the phone to be heard.

The telephone system in the CIS countries is about fifty years behind the telephone system in the West. I have noticed that in the winter, particularly, the quality of the phone lines suffer dramatically. This is probably due to the extreme cold.

I found myself feeling more and more upset by the act of screaming into the phone, even though no words were said to make me angry. My frustration with the slow pace of the translation added to that feeling. When I hung up, I was drenched in sweat and ornery enough to take on a biker gang.

To understand why I ranked this marriage agency as the worst that I encountered, you need to hear the rest of the story.

At first, my telephone conversations took place between a Russian woman who was a client of Olga’s and myself. At some point in the translated conversation, it was obvious that Olga had inserted herself.

I was peppered with questions about my income and other personal questions. In addition, pressure was being applied for me to use their service in Belarus at what I thought was a ridiculous usurious rate.

For example, the translator asked if I would like to come to Polatsk to meet the woman who I was conversing with. I answered that that would be nice.

The translator then said that they would send a driver to pick me up at the train station in Minsk. Polatsk is about a two-hour drive north from Minsk. I inquired about the fee, which the translator said would be about $200.00.

I told them I would take the train to Polatsk by myself. The translator then asked, “How will we recognize you at the train station?”

I described myself. The translator responded, “Why don’t you carry an American flag so we can identify you?”

I responded dryly, “Of course. And I will be singing ‘God Bless America,’ as I march through the train station, waving the flag.”

As an aside, I found a pair of boxer shorts made out of the same material and in the same pattern as the American flag. I brought them with me on my trip. I was going to wave them as I made my way through the train station in Polatsk.

The translator said that they would take care of all hotel reservations, meals, and other arrangements. I asked how much. After consulting Olga in Russian, she replied to me, “About one thousand dollars per day.”

I said, “Congratulations, Polatsk has become the most expensive city in the world in which to visit.”

I asked the translator, “How could I possibly spend one thousand dollars in a day in a country where the average income is one hundred dollars per month?”

After conversing with Olga in Russian again, the translator answered, “You may want to go boar hunting.”

Her response was so hilarious to me, I burst out laughing. I said to her that the only thing I was there to hunt was for a delightful woman to become my wife.

I thought to myself, “And the only thing I was likely to shoot is a greedy, unethical, evil owner of a marriage agency.”

Needless to say, I declined their offer. My only reason for going to Polotsk was for the benefit of the woman I was to meet. I had already made my mind up about Olga.

After my laborious conversations with the translator, you can imagine how I felt when I called up Olga’s agency on my way through Belarus, and Olga was able to converse with me in perfect English.

She had put me through hours of tedium to train her translator at twenty dollars per hour, plus the cost of the telephone calls, while she could have spoken to me without problem in perfect English in a fraction of the time.

It was with a certain delight that I told Olga that I would not be stopping in Polatsk. The thought that Olga was imagining bags of money flying away brought joy to my heart.

I felt sorry for the woman I was to visit in Polatsk. I had fallen in love with my future wife and that was that. She was ‘the one.’ I knew it as soon as I met her.

The TRUTH About Russian Brides, Breaking Misconceptions

There are a lot of misconceptions about Russian women that need to be cleared:

The one vital question that looms large in the minds of men is that why should Russian women look for husbands abroad? Is it that they want to migrate to the West at any cost by using marriage as a stepping stone?

The answer to both the questions is a big NO. A few issues plaguing the Russian society pushes them to choose Western life partners. There are many reasons for this. Taking a look at Russian men objectively, the statistics reveal that Russian men cannot make good husbands because of their alcohol abuse and poor health conditions. The society and life conditions in Russia push the men towards alcohol addiction.

The second reason is because the number of women in Russia outnumber the men by almost 7%. So, a lot of Russian women are lonely and hardly have a chance to find a life partner in Russia.

Since the major misconceptions about Russian brides have been tackeld, let us move on to see what the basic qualities of Russian brides are.

Russian brides are good-looking, feminine and chic. They rarely get overweight with time. They dress up very carefully and are updated with the latest fashion. Russian women are very modest in their financial and lifestyle expectations for a husband compare to western women. Most Russian singles would much rather have a loving husband and friend than well sponsored life with a stranger.

They are well-educated, intelligent. They have better education and life experience. This is because the Soviet educational system offers quite a few scholarships and encourages women to have advanced degrees. Though the accent in English is different, they can pick up the right accent very easily.

Though they are career-minded they do not compromise on family values. This is because of unique Russian culture that has very strong, old-fashioned values about family and its importance to the woman. Also, because most of Russian live in small apartments with 2-3 generations living together. Thus the family is close knit.

Finally, what a man can expect from a western bride is that she will make a good wife because she is flexible and adaptable to any life style. Many men who have been married to Russian women, report how easy it was for their new wives to overcome a cultural change. Although, men themselves had to make compromises in order to help the transition.

There are a lot of dating and introduction agencies introducing Russian brides to eligible men.

Russian Brides... Myth or Reality?

Author: Mitchell Smith

When I first began on my journey seeking a Russian Bride, I was just in awe at how gorgeous they were AND that they were still available... as I'm sure most Western men feel when they visit these Russian woman sites too. Yes, it was eye candy heaven and I loved every minute of it. They all shared the same typical profile too... "Looking for man my dreams! I cook, clean and shall be the good wife! I want family with the children... where is you, man my dreams?"

Seemed simple enough, as I fit the profile for most of the Russian women on there. And as I searched towards finding the perfect Anna Kournikova clone, thinking of how I would rescue her from the fallout of Communism, poverty and near starvation... she, in return, would think of me as her hero, love me forever and worship the ground I walk upon. All because I sent her an email. Yes, pure poetry to her ears that somebody from the Western world wanted her more than a bottle of Stolichnaya Vodka! And after 2 years of courtship through emails, I eventually found my perfect match... a petite, sweet, blonde Russian girl named Nadejda.

Only 25 years old... old enough to know what love is and still young enough to fall for it! Yes, I am a lucky man and have been very fortunate. But in my quest towards marrying a Russian woman, I have learned the truth that separates MYTH from REALITY. Many Russian bride sites will likely argue with me on many points -- but this is because they have to. After all, they need Western men to spend their American dollars, right? But I want to set the record straight. My article is not to tear down the Russian Bride sites, but rather to amuse and entertain you while being truthful... so I will speak the truth based on my experiences.

So what is MYTH and what is REALITY? Well, let's see, shall we?

1) Myth: All Russian women are just as beautiful as Anna Kournikova. Sorry, but unless you're Anna Kournikova, the closest you're ever going to get with her looks is a photo. MOST (and yes, I do mean MOST) Russian girls are a 7 at best, being on a scale from 1-10. I grew up in Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, so maybe my opinion is a bit biased... but living here in Russia, I have yet to see the beautiful women as represented within the agency sites. Also, I once heard that Russian women supposedly age more gracefully than American women... yet another myth. Most Russian women over 30 look terrible and are very much overweight. I have met some American men here in Russia and they all laughed because they agreed... Russian women over 30 look like they're 45.

2) Reality: Russian women are more family oriented. Completely true! Russian cultures are very family oriented, especially the women. My wife talks to her sister and mother daily, and holidays you can expect large family gatherings.

3) Myth: Russian women would do anything to come to America. Completely false. Most Russian women are actually very intimidated of the very thought of leaving their home country. Again, they are very family oriented and while they might be intrigued to live in America (or elsewhere), the vast majority of Russian women don't care to live that far away from their family... UNLESS you are a millionaire and want to share your money with their family! I mean, hey, we're all human, right? Heck, I'd gladly sell my brother for a penny -- any takers?

4) Reality: Russian women love Western men. This is actually true. Many Russian women are intrigued by foreign men (especially western men) and find it sexy that you're not from their country. Not to mention, many Russian men drink heavily and are alcoholics, which also plays into why so many Russian women seek relationships abroad. I believe hygene also plays into their decision too -- but I can't be too sure. Perhaps I should ask them why they keep pinching their nose?

5) Myth: Money doesn't really matter to Russian women. This is only true if you're wealthy -- because only then does it NOT matter. Sorry fellas, but your $30K salary will only be fine to a Russian lady if you reside within a Russia village or Ukraine. Outside of that, these ladies have no desire to trade in their $200 monthly flat just to live with you in your really cool trailer! If you plan on marrying a Russian woman, you had better bring something to the table besides your charming personality.

6) Reality: Russian women are faithful and loyal. This is very true from what I have experienced. Many Russian women are faithful and loyal to the ones they love. They are extremely devoted.

7) Myth: Russian women are too poor and don't have the internet. I want to clarify this right now... this is NOT true for the majority of Russian women. Most people have the internet, and if not from home, I can assure you they have it from work and often check their emails at work. This is a common ploy agencies use to have you pay more money to use their mail forwarding services.

8) Reality: Russian people are broke and their salaries are very low. The average Russian woman makes about $200 per month. However, their cost of living is very low here, so think of it as making around $600 per month in the US. Living in Russia has taught me that this country is LAZY and BROKE... notice I said broke, not poor. There is a huge difference. Africa is a poor nation, but not Russia. Many Russians are lazy because -- well, in all honesty, they have no desire to work for pennies a day. Who can blame them?

9) Myth: Russian women are scammers and only want your money. Not true at all. Most Russian women who scam for money on the web are not even women at all... they are men posing as women. If a Russian woman ever asks you for money, 9 times out of 10 it's a man posing as a woman.

10) Reality: Russian women are very strong individuals. These women have been through a lot in this country, so do not make the mistake of thinking a Russian woman needs a man to SAVE her because they don't make a lot of money. They WANT a man, but definitely don't NEED one. The divorce rate is high in this country because Russian women don't have a problem with leaving their husbands due to mistreatment. If you treat them right, they will stay with you forever... but disrespect them, and they will drop you like a bad habit and never look back.

These are just a few things I discovered along the way. Russian women can and do make wonderful wives, but in order for this to happen, a man must pursue this with great patience. It won't happen in 3 months... but if you persist at it and stay in touch with one girl for long enough, then I assure you, it can happen as it did with me! Good luck!!

Pretty Russian Bride - How To Keep Her Forever

Author: Peter Finch

Russians have spirit and passion. Just like any other relationship it will be hard at moments to understand your bride and agree with her moods.

Unlike western society where people are alienated, Russians always are supportive and are ready to lend a hand to everyone in need. They need to share all the moments of happiness or misfortune. Probably they will be surprised how so many young people are leaving their parents and see them only for Christmas or Easter.

Your first task after introducing your wife to your family is to make her feel comfortable with them. Cultural differences are not one and two and the bridegroom should be patient and explain the whole system and modern traditions which we westerners follow.

Do not be jealous if your wife is kissing your brother cheeks, or hugs him every time when she sees him. Russians are warm people and these gestures are not seduction, but a way to show that they like him as a brother.

It is not strange that in Russian, the word brat (brother) is very popular and can be heard between comrades. Every scene of jealous feelings will have a negative effect on your bride and will make her feel oppressed and misunderstood.

Pretty Russian Bride

Russians have a good education system which allows them to be active members of the foreign society. They have various interests and hobbies. Most of them have been participating in groups for arts or literature circles in high school.

Engineering and heavy industry are well developed in Russia so do not be surprised if your wife is having degree in physics or chemistry and wants to put her knowledge into practice in her new home country. The best you can do for her is to support her and guide her in the complicated recruitment labyrinths. She will appreciate this and praise you forever.

Modern Russians enjoy freedom and entertainment. Do not force your pretty bride to stay home on Friday night and watch television with you. Take her out and show her your favorite places for dining. These ladies have fantastic rhythm; invite her to a club and this will be a feast for your senses. Join her and dance like nobody is watching.

Traveling broadens your horizon. Now when you have such a charming company is the time to get on the car and escape the noise of the city. Whenever you can, tour the country and show her places which she has seen only on the map. This will help you strengthen your relationship and will be extremely interesting to her. Experiences are those tiny bolts which make the feeling real and the memories stronger.

Surprise her with flowers. Those small gestures will fill your life with romance. In Russia, March 8th is very popular holiday. In case you have not noticed it yet, this is international women's day. Under no circumstances, should you forget this occasion! It is as bad as forgetting Valentine's Day!

Be creative and make your pretty Russian bride important in your life, do not forget holidays and respect her culture. In return she will stay with you forever.

The Success Rate of Russian – American Marriages

By John Kunkle

Despite all the potential pitfalls and cultural differences, the vast majority of Russian – American marriages are successful.

Exact statistics are difficult to gather for a number of reasons. First, most census reports don’t keep statistics using the categories of Russian women and American men.

Secondly, Russian – American marriages are a recent phenomenon for the most part. Most of them have only taken place since the breakup of the Soviet Union.

The number of marriages was small in the beginning and has taken on momentum as time marched on.

Consequently, most Russian – American marriages are a relatively new phenomenon. It is difficult to predict how these marriages will last the test of time.

However, INS statistics have estimated that approximately eighty per cent of Russian -- American marriages are intact after two years. This is based on the number of green card and naturalization applications that they receive.

Marriage agencies, that specialize in bringing American men and Russian women together, estimate that between eighty percent and ninety five percent of marriages are successful, depending on which agency is reporting.

I would venture to say that the twenty per cent of Russian-American marriages that fail are substantially the fault of the American men.

Either the American men were not very judicious in their choice of partner or the men were not very good marriage partners.

They married women who were thirty years younger than them. They never got beyond the beauty to find out what their mate was really like before marrying them. They used their money, status, assets or position as bait to attract their mate.

They couldn’t keep up to the libido or other energy demands of their younger wife. They had roommates or other people living with them that upset the family living situation.

They continued their chauvinistic, alcoholic, womanizing, or violent behavior that ruined their previous marriages.

Maybe they didn’t do enough to help their fiancé through the rough period of culture shock when they first come to America. Maybe they didn’t have enough patience to help their fiancé learn about all the little details of American life we take for granted.

Maybe they thought they could exert ‘control’ over their foreign wife because she ‘didn’t know any better.’ Maybe they thought they had a sex toy, who would satisfy their demands without question.

The reason I say these things is that most Russian women find it extremely important to get and stay married. The status of married women in Russia is so much higher than being single,

Russian women will go the extra mile to make their marriage work.

They have a commitment to marriage that western women do not have. They will often stay in a marriage, even if they feel it is less than ideal, for the benefit of the marriage.

This requires an emotional and spiritual maturity that many people do not have.

Increasingly in western society over the past thirty years, marriage partners have put their own ego needs ahead of the needs of their family and children.

This is the fallout of the ‘me’ generation. Families, and especially children, were sacrificed at the altar of self-gratification. The ego demands of immature spouses put their own satisfaction ahead of the welfare of their family and children.

This is one reason the percentage of nuclear families in America has fallen from eighty per cent of the population to twenty percent over the past thirty years.

The missing ingredient is commitment. Russian women are looking for marriage to western men because many Russian men are no longer interested in commitment to family life. They are Peter Pans afraid to grow up.

American men are turning toward Russian women because they believe they embody the traditional values that are missing in American women. The number one traditional value that is missing is

COMMITMENT

Many American men have a problem with commitment as well. They think that because they marry a foreign woman they won’t have to work hard at making their marriage work. They are mistaken.

Because of all the cultural differences, a marriage between an American man and a Russian woman requires even more work.

But if both spouses are committed to making the marriage work, then those things can be worked out.

I would venture to say that:

If American men chose Russian women of average looks, women over thirty-five years of age, or women with children; and...

If they modified their lifestyle choices away from drug and alcohol abuse, violence, womanizing, and pornography; and...

If they worked hard to ease culture shock, show patience in teaching their Russian wives about life in their new country, and became better husbands and fathers; that the success ratio of Russian-American marriages would be close to one hundred percent.

The Russian Emigrant’s Club

By John Kunkle

Your fiancé will meet other Russian women who are coming to America under fiancé visas. She will meet them at her English classes in her native country before she leaves.

She will be introduced to other women at the marriage agency that are coming to America.

She will meet them through relatives or acquaintances, who introduce them to other women coming to America that they have heard about through the grapevine.

She will meet women at the embassy when she goes to take her medical exam and her interview.

When she comes to America, your fiancé will probably enroll in English classes at the local adult school. If there are any other Russian-speaking women there, they will become fast friends.

How the Club Forms:

You will get calls from American men you don’t know, who have heard through friends of friends that you have a Russian fiancé or wife, and they are in the process of looking or bringing over a fiancé from Russia. When their fiancés arrive in America, they will frequently become intimate with your fiancé.

Friends of yours, hearing that you have a Russian fiancé, will give your phone number to other Russian people that they have met.

Your fiancé will go to public places where she may overhear Russian being spoken. While she would never do this in her country, she may speak up and say hello to them because they share a common language in a strange land.

This eclectic group becomes an informal Emigrant’s Club. Your fiancé will grab onto these strangers like a drowning sailor to a floating life buoy. This Emigrant’s Club will be one of her survival tools.

She will talk to them to hear the comfort of Russian words being spoken. While everything around her seems strange to her, she will have things explained to her in a way that she understands.

The Emigrant's Club Is Another Tool To Making Her Feel Comfortable Here:

I encourage you to help her develop her Emigrant’s Club, as this will make it easier for her adjust to her new life and will reduce the Culture Shock she is experiencing.

Even though you are patient and explain everything to her in the best way you can, she will trust and understand the members of her Emigrant’s Club in a way you will not understand.

They are explaining America to her through Russian eyes – much as I am trying to explain Russia and Russian women to you through American eyes.

Helping her get through these rough spots will be the positive side of the Emigrant’s Club. However, there are negative sides as well.

She will compare you and your actions, assets, income, job, and life style with her Russian friends and their husbands. These Russian women exchange experiences with each other in details that might embarrass you.

If you are miserly, they will know. If you make less money than her friend’s husbands, they will know. If you come up a little short in the marriage bed, they will know.

The intimate details of your life will be paraded through conversations traveling through the grapevine at mach speed. If you are lacking, it will become readily apparent to your fiancé in a very short period of time.

Telephone, Telegraph, Tell A Russian Woman: The Three Fastest Modes of Communication:

Personally, I just keep my mouth shut. I don’t say anything that I don’t want someone else to hear, because they will.

They share everything.

My wife took her girlfriend to the jewelry store where we bought our wedding rings and where I have purchased some jewelry for her for special occasions.

One time, my wife and I had a big argument. When my wife went to the jewelry store, the man at the jewelry store knew about it from her friend.

So, a word to the wise, I wouldn’t say or do anything that you don’t want the world to know about, because they will.

There are three modern forms of rapid communication: Telegraph, Telephone, and Tell a Russian Woman.

Hooked on Russian Women

By John Kunkle

When I got home from meeting my first Russian woman, I began a marketing campaign to meet more Russian women. I did a thoughtful search of the Internet sites and selected about eighty women to send my 'marketing package' to.

Again, I was honest in my introductory letter. Of course, I put as positive of a spin on things as I could. After all it was a marketing letter. But I was honest.

I wanted to meet a woman who wanted to meet me -- not someone she thought I was. The results were amazing. Soon, I was corresponding regularly with sixteen women at the same time!

Over the next few months, I was able to narrow the group down to five women that I arranged to meet over a two-week world wind tour of Eastern Europe.

I flew to Moscow, from there, south to Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad), from there, west to Kiev, Ukraine. My next stop was Minsk, Belarus, north of Kiev, and finally St. Petersburg and back to Moscow.

In each city I was meeting a stunningly beautiful, educated, charming woman. After two or three days, I was on to meet the next. My trip was something that I will never forget!

In Belarus, I met the woman of my dreams. It was obvious from the letters I had received from her that she was my number one prospect. From the instant I met her, I knew she was 'the one.'

The days I spent with her were the best days of my life! If you ever see pictures of us during that time, we look like love sick puppies. Its obvious from the photos that we were head over heels in love with each other.

I arranged to bring her to the United States under a fiancé visa. It took nine nerve-wracking months and everything that could go wrong, went wrong. But finally she made it here.

We got married and now we have a beautiful little girl. Everything happened quickly. It required quite an adjustment for the both of us. Five years later, we are very happy together.

Inside Look On Being Married To A Russian Wife

Jason, a slender, sandy blonde-haired man with sharp blue eyes and Tatiana, a tall, brunette with sparkling brown eyes, have been married nearly five years. At first they appear to be an average middle American couple, but as soon as Tatiana begins to speak, the difference is obvious. Tatiana is not American at all. She is a Russian wife. Some estimates suggest around 10,000 marriages a year between American men and Russian women, many through Russian matchmaking agencies. As with all marriages, there is no guarantee of success, but many couples say the pairings are perfect. In fact, USCIS recent survey found that divorce rate in marriages involving Russian wives is lower than USA national average.

Jason met his wife using online Russian matchmaking agency. They exchanged correspondence and after a while he visited Tatiana in her home town. Before long, Jason decided to invite Tatiana to USA for a visit. One and a half years later they were married and his Russian wife moved to America permanently.

Tatiana writes from home and takes care of the couple's 7-year-old son, Jacob. She, like many Russian women, takes great care of her appearance and rarely leaves the house without applying her makeup. She and Jason also attend a twice-weekly ballroom and salsa dance class that helps her stay fit. "Russian women simply do not gain weight the way American women do," she laughs, "it is because we must learn to be moderate very young. There are not a lot..." she pauses, searching for the word, "of choices in Russia."

In general, Russian women looking for American husbands already know English, although not necessarily as well as a native speaker. They also may not have had experience with things like credit cards and ATM's. However, this does not mean they are backward or unintelligent. Many Russians simply learned to prefer cash over banks after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990's. Usually these are intelligent, educated women who, either due to circumstance (statistically there are far fewer Russian men than women) or a desire to try for a better life, have come to desire marriage with an American.

Tatiana and Jason have such a happy successful marriage because both came to the altar ready to compromise and work together. It is sometimes suggested by agency sites that connect American men with Russian women that all Russian women want a traditional marriage and are willing "slaves" to their husbands. This is not true. Many women are looking for a stable marriage and, most importantly, a good husband. What this can mean depends on the man and woman. Russian women are, traditionally, raised to be more compromising and flexible, after all, this is a country where it is expected that people work together and families are very important. One sticking point for some marriages is that Russian women are not necessarily as passionate about Christianity as an American man may expect. Tatiana and Jason have no such problems as Jason is agnostic. "I am able to let him live his lifestyle," Tatiana says, "for me, religion is just a part of life, not something to push forward all the time."

A common myth is that a Russian wife is submissive and a virtual slave to her husband and family. The truth is Russian woman can be just as independent and strong as American women, but their strength is shown through their recognition of the need to compromise and adapt to situations. Tatiana's wry, cynical sense of humor is usual for Russian women as well. "She tells it like it is," Jason laughs, "but is willing to work with me to find ways to make our life work. She's no submissive wife, but she's also not going to chase me around with a frying pan."

"That's what you think," Tatiana responds.
